TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Men in Trees" season opener, 9 p.m., ABC. If you missed the first season, don't fret. Here's the ideal time to meet the characters. As a cyclone nears, the people of Elmo, Alaska, huddle at the local bar. It's the perfect place for all the characters to bounce off each other. There are funny bits, as Mai rips into her husband, Buzz. And overdone ones, as Patrick sees a new side of Annie.

"Women's Murder Club" debut, 8 p.m., ABC. James Patterson's novels created four women who secretly huddle to solve crimes. There's a cop (Angie Harmon), medical examiner (Paula Newsome), crime reporter (Aubrey Dollar) and assistant district attorney (Laura Harris).

OF NOTE

"Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead" season opener, 6 p.m., Lifetime. Williams is back, claiming to contact departed loved ones.

"America's Psychic Challenge" debut, 7 p.m., Lifetime. Twelve women, four men compete. Tonight, four of them try to find someone who's hiding in a hospital; they also seek details of a murder scene.

"Ghost Whisperer," 7 p.m., CBS. An Iraq war veteran keeps seeing departed colleagues.

"Blood Ties" season opener, 8 p.m., Lifetime. This low-budget, Canadian series has a detective probing supernatural cases, with the help of her ex-boyfriend cop and a pleasant vampire. This hour has a clever script. A ghost wants its murder solved — except his body still seems to be alive.

"Twitches Too," 8 p.m., Disney Channel. The original "Twitches" had two women learn that they are twins — and that each is royalty and has magic powers in an alternate world.

"Friday Night Lights," 8 p.m., NBC. Last week Landry accidentally killed Tyra's attacker, and she persuaded him to dump the body. Now that haunts him. Meanwhile, Tami tries to deal with her newborn baby.

"Las Vegas," 9 p.m., NBC. Someone may be sabotaging a spokes-model contest.

"Wizards of Waverly Place" debut, 9:30 p.m., Disney Channel. Selena Gomez may be the cutest TV star since Sally Field was Gidget. Here, she plays a teen, learning magic from her dad; she duplicates herself, to get to a big sale. There are lots of sight gags.
