WWII photos of New Caledonia to go on display

Photos depicting the interaction between U.S. soldiers and island populations entitled "Tour of Paradise: An American Soldier in the South Pacific" will be on display from Tuesday through May 4 at the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii.

The exhibit will feature photos by U.S. Army Quartermaster Cpl. Elmer J. Williams when he was on the island of New Caledonia in 1944 and 1945.

The exhibit is on loan from the University of Queensland in cooperation with the Australian Consulate General in Hawai'i.

Admission is free to the museum, located on Kalia Road on the grounds of the Hale Koa Hotel and the Fort DeRussy Recreation Center.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
