Eight thousand people can't be wrong. That's the number of attendees each year at the Ala Moana Hotel Oktoberfest, which celebrates the season with beer, food, chicken dancing, beer, polka music, and did we mention beer?

On the menu are bratwursts, sauerbraten, giant knackwursts, pig knuckles and sauerkraut. Bring on the apple strudel and Black Forest layer cake! And have another glass of Bitburger while you're at it.

The taste of Germany happens in the hotel's Hibiscus Ballroom from 6 p.m. to midnight today and 5 to 11 p.m. tomorrow. Admission is $10 today, $5 tomorrow. 955-4811.
