UH disability group to honor 3 companies Wednesday

The University of Hawai'i's Center on Disability Studies will honor Communications Pacific, the Hale Koa Hotel and Kaiser Permanente for their support for employment of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders with disabilities on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Honolulu Design Center.Hire Abilities-Hawai'i, a project of the Center on Disability Studies, also will be honored.
The awards are presented as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The event at the Honolulu Design Center is part of its Pacific Rim CinemaNights Series. The evening will include films, awards, pupu and no-host bar. RSVP is required by calling 956-7539 or e-mailing cccrocke@hawaii.edu.
Abilities at Work, a film documentary directed by Sara Banks and produced by the UH's National Technical Assistance Center, will premiere. The film features four stories of persons with disabilities who have successful lives and careers.
Disability Employment Awareness Month is celebrated every October throughout the United States.
