3 arrested in Maili after mini-crime spree

Three males were arrested yesterday in Ma'ili for investigation following a mini-crime spree at a Wai'anae area mall.

Police yesterday arrested a Ma'ili man, 20, for second-degree burglary, unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, promotion of a dangerous drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and an 18-year-old from Waipahu, listed as a runaway, for investigation of second-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft.

A boy, 15, was also arrested as a juvenile for unauthorized ossession of confidential personal information.

Only the Ma'ili man was in police custody at the main station cellblock this afternoon pending charges.

According to police, the two older suspects entered a retail store at about 11:30 a.m. yesterday and allegedly stole money from a tip jar.

The pair later sneaked past employees at another business, allegedly broke into a office/storage room and took a wallet containing cash and personal identification of a female employee, 23.

Customers at the mall who witnessed both incidents followed the suspects and informed police that they boarded a city bus.

The suspects later got off the city bus and reportedly went into a brush area, police said.

The older suspect allegedly handed the juvenile the wallet when they came out of the brush, police said.

Police arrested the two older suspects fronting 87-847 Kalauku St. at 12:33 p.m. The juvenile was located and arrested nearby with the woman's wallet in his possession, police said.
