An intruder who was discovered sleeping in a Portlock home yesterday by the resident was charged by prosecutors today with first-degree burglary.

Dana Patrick Duarte, 52, is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. His initial appearance is tomorrow at District Court.

Duarte, a felon with six prior convictions and no permanent local address, is accused of breaking into a home on the 500 block of Portlock Road.

The homeowner, an 84-year-old woman, discovered Duarte sleeping in her guest room at 7:30 a.m. She told police the man entered her home without permission, ate food and took clothing to wear.
