Kalaheo awarded No. 3 seed for OIA football playoffs

Advertiser Staff

Kalaheo High School has been awarded the Eastern Division's No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming O'ahu Interscholastic Association football playoffs, via a coin toss this morning to break a three-way tie with Castle and Kailua.

The three teams each finished with a 3-3 record in the East, and each team was 1-1 against each other (the first tie-breaker).

Castle is the No. 4 seed by virtue of its regular-season victory over Kailua, which is No. 5.

Castle will open playoff action at 7:30 p.m. Friday against West No. 5 Leilehua at Mililani's John Kauinana Stadium.

Kailua will play at West No. 4 Kapolei at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Both games will be televised live on OC-16.
