Oahu Circuit Court judge nominated to appeals court

Advertiser Staff

Randal Lee, an O'ahu Circuit Court judge, was nominated today by Gov. Linda Lingle to the state Intermediate Court of Appeals.

Lee, who has served as judge since April 2005, is a former Honolulu deputy prosecuting attorney, where he was involved in campaign spending, public corruption and white-collar crime cases. He is also a former attorney for the public defender's office, serving in the appellate branch and Family Court trials branch.

Lee graduated from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles and the University of Hawai'i.

Lee would replace Judge John Lim — who died in June — on the appeals court.

The state Senate has 30 days to confirm or reject Lee's nomination or let it proceed by consent. Senate leaders have said they would likely return in special session to consider the nomination.
