Advertiser Staff

A broken water main has closed down North Kuakini Street in the east-bound direction from Sereno Street to Bachelot Street in Liliha Valley this morning.

The six-inch main broke in front of 320 North Kuakini St. Two homes and the the Kuakini Medical Plaza were affected by the main break, but the hospital was not, a Board of Water Supply spokeswoman said.

A BWS repair crew was on scene. Traffic was being contra-flowed on one lane and most west-bound lane traffic was being re-routed onto Bachelot Street.

The lane closures and traffic redirection were issued at 3:45 a.m. Repairs are expected to take the majority of the day, however lanes are expected to reopen in time for rush hour traffic, a Board of Water Supply spokesman said.
