HECO upgrading utility poles in Waimalu area

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Company will be doing night work on utility poles along Kamehameha Highway in the Waimalu area today through Friday.

Because the project, which involves replacing wiring, will require the use of cranes and heavy equipment, two east-bound lanes will be closed in the construction area between the hours of 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Over the course of four nights, the project will progress from the Waiau Power Plant along Kamehameha Highway and finish near McGrew Point.

Hawaiian Electric will be using signs, cones and special duty police officers to ensure safe access through and around the construction area.
