WAILUKU
Meeting set for marine council

Advertiser Staff

The newly formed Maui Nui Marine Resource Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Alu Like building on Ka'ohu St. across from 'Iao Intermediate School.

The council was formed in consultation with the Department of Land and Natural Resources to manage nearshore activities to protect marine habitat; identify pollution sources; generate public involvement in resource management decisions; and encourage scientific research and monitoring of nearshore resources and the environment.

Native Hawaiian cultural practitioner Ed Lindsey is council chairman.

The meetings are open to the public.
