Silent vampire flick to be set to organ music Oct. 31

Advertiser Staff

"Nosferatu," often dubbed as the original silent film vampire classic, will be shown at 7 p.m. Halloween night with the requisite organ accompaniment.

The program will be at the Hawai'i Theatre.

John McCreary will be at the keyboards at the theater's Robert Morton Orchestral Theatre Organ to underscore the film with sounds and surges to match the on-screen thrills, old-cinema-day style.

"Nosferatu" was filmed in 1921 and released in 1922, the same year the Hawai'i Theatre was built. It is an adaptation of Bram Stoker's "Dracula,": with Max Schreck as the Count.

Tickets: $8 plus a $2 theater restoration fee. Discounts are available for seniors 62 and over, youths 17 and younger, students and military with valid IQs.

Information: 528-0506.
