Sixteen arrested for DUI on Big Island

The Big Island's push to reduce drunk driving on the island continues, with 16 motorists arrested for DUI last week. Six of the drivers were involved in accidents and one was under the age of 21.So far this year there have been 1,035 DUI arrests compared with 991 during the same period last year, an increase of 4 percent.
There have been 1,651 major accidents on the Big Island so far this year compared with 1,962 during the same period last year, a decrease of 16 percent.
DUI roadblocks and patrols continue island wide.
