CFB: Callahan won't step down as Nebraska coach
By Eric Olson
Associated Press
Callahan said today he feels responsible for the direction of the football program and feels bad for former athletic director Steve Pederson, who was fired by university Chancellor Harvey Perlman yesterday.
Callahan said Pederson extended himself above and beyond any other boss he has ever had.
The firing is a huge distraction for his team, said Callahan, who added that his players were looking to the coaching staff for direction.
The team is 4-3 this year. In four seasons under Callahan, the Huskers are 26-18 overall, 14-14 against the Big 12, 3-8 against teams in the Top 25 and 0-6 against the top 10.
