Police identify motorcyclist killed in Kona crash

A motorcyclist who died Saturday from injuries suffered in a collision on the Big Island was identified by police today as

Edward L. Billman, 55, of Na'alehu.

A female passenger on the Harley-Davidson that Billman was operating was medevaced to The Queen's Medical Center. Big Island police said she remains in critical condition.

The motorcycle was traveling north on Hawai'i Belt Road when it collided with a 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck making a left turn at the 106-mile marker in Kona.

The collision was reported to police at 2:05 p.m.

Billman died at Kona Community Hospital at 4:45 p.m.

He and his passenger were not wearing helmets, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck and his female passenger were not injured.
