Boom-box violation leads to drug arrests in Waikiki

Advertiser Staff

Two men and two women were arrested last night in Waikiki for drug offenses following a traffic stop of a sports utility vehicle on Seaside Avenue for a boom-box noise violation.

The four were arrested at 9:20 p.m. on suspicion of third-degree promotion of dangerous and also detrimental drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Charges are pending against a Village Park man, 38, and 25-year-old woman from Waimalu, who were backseat passengers in the vehicle. The truck is registered to a relative of the male suspect and the woman has a outstanding $200 warrant, police said.

A Waimalu man, 31, who was the driver, and 'Ewa woman, 19, were released pending further investigation.

The drug offenses stem from the recovery of nine bags of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a large bag of marijuana, which were allegedly in view of officers, from the vehicle.
