Preps: Fall state championships around the corner

State championships for fall prep sports begin next Tuesday with the Hawai'i High School Athletic Association air riflery championships at the Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall.

The girls volleyball tournaments start on Oct. 31 with Division I play on the Big Island and Division II play on O'ahu. Bowling starts on Nov. 1 in Hilo and cross country follows on Nov. 2.

The state football tournaments start on Nov. 16 and end on Nov. 30.

Cheerleading caps the fall season with its championship on Dec. 2.

State championships

Air riflery—Tuesday, Blaisdell Center Exhibition Hall.

Girls volleyball—Oct. 31-Nov. 3. Division I matches at Hilo Civic Auditorium. Division II matches at McKinley and Radford high schools. All Division II matches on Nov. 3 will be held at McKinley.

Bowling—Nov. 1-2, Hilo Lanes.

Cross country—Nov. 2, Kapalaua Village Golf Course, Maui.

Football (Division I/II)—Nov. 16 (first round), Nov. 24 (semifinals) and Nov. 30 (finals). First-round and semifinal sites to be determined. Championship games at Aloha Stadium.

Cheerleading—Dec. 2, Stan Sheriff Center.
