Fujikawa will play pro event in Miami next week

Advertiser Staff

Moanalua High School junior Tadd Fujikawa will make his sixth start as a pro when he plays in the $575,000 Miccosukee Championship next week (Oct. 25 to 28) in Miami, Fla. The Nationwide Tour event is played at Miccosukee Golf & Country Club.

Fujikawa, who turned pro in July, has yet to make a cut in five pro starts. Two came on the PGA Tour, one each on the Canadian and European Tours and at the Nationwide's Albertson's Boise Open.

The 16-year-old was the youngest ever to qualify for the U.S. Open last year. In January, he was a human highlight show at the Sony Open in Hawai'i, becoming the youngest in 50 years to make a cut and ultimately finishing 20th.

Miccosukee is Nationwide's final tournament before its season-ending championship. Bryce Molder won the $90,000 first prize last year with a score of 14-under-par 270. Boo Weekly was second and Hawai'i's Parker McLachlin finished 10th.
