Pioneering female surfer Jeannie Chesser, who is battling Merkel cell carcinoma, has been the focus of a series of recent fundraisers. The latest will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20 at Treetops Restaurant (3737 Manoa Road, in the former Paradise Park).
Called "Da People's Celebration of Ohana and Friendship for Jeannie Chesser," the non-alcoholic event includes entertainment, pupu, a slide show and prize drawings.
Advance tickets: $22. At the door: $30.
