The Maui News

WAILUKU – Six Maui Police Department employees received suspensions ranging from one to 10 days after police internal investigations.

The 10-day suspension was for an officer who failed to properly recover evidence and investigate an accident in October 2006. Another officer was suspended for seven days for failing to properly recover evidence and investigate an accident and a third officer received an oral reprimand for failing to properly supervise the accident investigation.

Police reported the disciplinary actions resulting from investigations concluded last month.

A five-day suspension was ordered for inappropriate behavior in an argument with another employee in July 2006. Three-day suspensions were ordered for an employee who made demeaning and inappropriate comments to another employee in July 2006 and for an officer who failed to submit a report after numerous reminders in June.

An officer was suspended for one day for pressuring a former spouse to sign a legal document in July 2006.

The names of the officers were not made public.
