Lingle releases $112K for Hilo High fire alarm system

Gov. Linda Lingle has released $112,000 for the design and construction of a fire alarm system at Hilo High School's annex facilities.

"When it comes to ensuring the safety of our public buildings, being prepared for a fire is paramount," Lingle said in a news release.

Hilo Annex Buildings A, B, C and D are occupied by various high school administrative offices and the Hilo Community School for adults. The facilities are also used for school meetings, conferences, training sessions and workshops.

This project will ensure that Annex buildings meet current fire safety codes and provide staff, students and the public with critical warning and evacuation time in the event of a fire.

Lingle last year released $63,000 for this project.

Design is scheduled to be completed in December. Construction is scheduled to begin in April and be completed in August.
