Hawaii Opera Theatre's Opera Ball is on for Nov. 10

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii Opera Theatre presents its annual Opera Ball at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hawaii Ballroom.

"Star-Crossed Lovers" is the ball theme this year to herald HOT's 2008 Season of operas by Verdi, Rossini, and Gounod: Don Carlo, The Barber of Seville, and Romeo & Juliet.

"One of our performers is the principal artist, Romeo, in HOT's 2008 production of Romeo & Juliet. It's a great way to celebrate Opera Ball's 'Star-Crossed Lovers' theme and HOT's upcoming production of Romeo & Juliet," states Lori Komer, HOT's Opera Ball co-chair along with Mi Kosasa.

HOT's silent auction is a premiere component of this annual black-tie fundraiser. Highlights include: ruby and diamond earrings, a Hiroki Morinoue painting and a New Zealand travel package. Last year the silent auction packages helped raise more than $100,000 the professional opera company..

Opera Ball table prices range from $3,500 to $15,000. Individual tickets are $350. Funds raised through the Opera Ball and other resources support HOT's education programs and its productions. HOT's Winter Grand Opera Season features international opera artists, the full Honolulu Symphony Orchestra and HOT's impressive chorus of up to 70 resident singers.
