Normal water service in Leeward expected tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

Water service for Leeward residents is expected to be back to normal by tomorrow following repairs to a 24-inch water main on Farrington Highway.

Crews completed repairs on the pipe this morning and started moving water through the system to refill area reservoirs, according to the Board of Water Supply.

However, Leeward-area residents were asked to continue conserving water for another 24 hours so that the system could be fully recharged. Water should be used for priority needs such as cooking, drinking and personal hygiene, a Board of Water Supply spokesman said.

Meanwhile, one town-bound lane of Farrington Highway near Kahe Power Plant remained closed this afternoon. A private contractor was expected to complete repairs to the work site on the highway by this evening.
