Local documentary on autism premieres at HIFF

O'ahu born and raised Don King, well-known in Hollywood for his ocean cinematography, teamed up with his wife, Julie King, to make "Beautiful Son," a poignant, personal documentary that gets its world premiere at 6 tonight as part of the Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival.

The couple's son, Beau, is autistic. At the age of 2, his development started changing, with his motor and speech skills and flagging. The film documents their experience with the world of autism, from consulting experts across the country to meeting parents whose children are undergoing experimental treatment.
