Utility work to shut 2 Kam Highway lanes in Waimalu

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Company crews will tonight continue work on upgrades to utility poles along Kamehameha Highway in the Waimalu area.

Because the project will require the use of cranes and heavy equipment, two east-bound lanes will be closed in the construction area between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The project had been scheduled to be complete by this morning. However, due to difficult working conditions, crews will need to spend one more night on the road, according to a HECO news release.

HECO will be using signs, cones and special-duty police officers to ensure safe access through and around the construction area.
