Haseko donates to school media

Advertiser Staff

Ocean Pointe and Hoakalei developer Haseko yesterday donated $50,000 to Campbell High School's Saber Media Program.

Part of the donation will be used to purchase a Feather Pack mobile video unit, which allows students to cover events with three cameras.

The donation also will allow 10 students and two faculty chaperones to attend the Student Television Network Competition in Anaheim in January.

The rest of the gift will support server maintenance for the program's computer system.

Oscar Ramiscal, the program's adviser, said he hopes the donation will help the program engage students and community members to produce more content for the school's daily broadcast and for cable television.

The Saber Media program won the grand prize in the Department of Education's Island Movie contest last year and placed first in the City's Earth Month Teen Video Awards.

Student-created public service announcements and other programs can be viewed on 'Olelo's public access channels.
