N.M. St. receiver leaves game with collarbone fracture

Associated Press

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — New Mexico State receiver Chris Williams left tonight's game against Idaho with a stress fracture to his right collarbone.

Williams was hit near the sidelines in the second quarter, then taken with trainers to the locker room a short time later. Early in the third, team officials announced he wouldn't return.

Williams, a 5-foot-7, 157-pound junior, came into the Idaho contest ranked ninth nationally with an average of 106.5 yards receiving per game. Last fall, he led the nation with a 117.9-yard average.

Hawai'i hosts New Mexico State next Saturday.
