Fine weather forecast for today and tomorrow

A tropical weather system is expected to settle over the islands today and Monday resulting in fine weather with light winds, warm days and mostly clear nights, according to the National Weather Service.

But all of that could change later Monday when the first shearline of the season approaches Kaua'i, bringing an increase in clouds and showers.

Those showers will increase over O'ahu Tuesday night and Wednesday as the remnants of the shearline push southward, forecasters said.

Here's a more detailed look at the next few days:

Today, mostly sunny. A 20 percent chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs 81 to 87. Northeast winds around 10 mph shifting to the south in the late morning and afternoon.

Tonight, mostly clear. Lows 66 to 74. Light winds.

Monday, sunny. Isolated showers in the afternoon. Highs 78 to 83. Light winds becoming south around 10 mph in the late morning and afternoon. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday night, partly cloudy with isolated showers. Lows 68 to 76. Northeast winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday, mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 78 to 83. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday night, mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Lows 67 to 76. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
