Hawai'i's Noa Sakamoto and John Flanagan finished fifth and eighth, respectively, at the USA Swimming 10K Open Water World Championship Trials at Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club in Fort Myers, Fla.

Mark Warkentin and Chip Petersen finished 1-2 to secure spots in the 2008 FINA Open Water World Championships, April 29 to May 4 in Seville, Spain.

Sakamoto, a Punahou alum who attends Stanford, finished in 1 hour, 57 minutes, 19.57 seconds. Flanagan's time was 1:57:21.56. Warkentin's winning time was 1:57:01.84.
