These moments haven't come often for Pac-Five.

The Wolf Pack did all of their scoring in a furious second quarter to upset 'Iolani, 21-14, yesterday in Interscholastic League of Honolulu Division II football at Aloha Stadium.

Daniel Kameialoha's diving catch to complete a 24-yard TD pass from Jon-Ray Rodrigues with 11 seconds left in the first half was the difference for the Wolf Pack (2-6 overall, 1-4 ILH), who had not won since their nonleague opener against Radford back in August.

The last time Pac-Five defeated 'Iolani was Nov. 11, 1995 by 21-18.

"We worked hard all week," said Pac-Five receiver Matt Shibata. "We were just real sick of losing all this time. We couldn't handle it anymore. We wanted this game real bad."

Rodrigues threw two TD passes, but it was the Wolf Pack's ability to run and keep control of the ball to keep 'Iolani's offense off the field that helped.

Also, the defense pretty much contained 'Iolani's scrambling quarterback Kela Marciel, limiting him to just 18 yards rushing and one TD. He did pass for 276 yards, including a 32-yard TD pass to Lionel Fujioka that gave the Raiders an early 7-0 lead.

"We came out of the half blazing and determined," Pac-Five defensive lineman Aaron Tipoti said.

"We thought if we could put pressure (on Marciel) we'd have a chance," Pac-Five coach Kip Botelho said. "Actually, we wanted him to run and throw on the run. We didn't want him to just stand in there and pick us apart. We wanted to get him on the move and hopefully cover with eight guys (in the secondary)."

The Raiders took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter, but saw it disappear quickly. The Wolf Pack tied it early in the second quarter on a 6-yard TD run by Phillip Sarubbi. But the Raiders responded quickly with Marciel's 1-yard TD run to complete a 79-yard drive and make it 14-7.

But the Wolf Pack scored on their ensuing series on Rodrigues' 4-yard TD pass to Sarubbi to tie it 14-14 with 2:31 left in the half.

'Iolani, pinned deep in its own territory, was forced to punt from its 18. The Wolf Pack took over at midfield with 1:15 left and scored four plays later on Kameialoha's catch.

Fujioka returned the ensuing kickoff 53 yards to the Pac-Five 39, but Marciel slipped and fell for a 10-yard loss while dropping back to pass on the last play of the half.

The deepest 'Iolani got into Wolf Pack territory in the second half was to the 21, where it missed a 38-yard field- goal attempt.

Running backs Jaime Rivera and Sarubbi rushed for 86 and 44 yards, respectively, to control the ball for the Wolf Pack.

Moreover, the Wolf Pack did not turnover the ball, although they had one fumble roll out of bounds.

"This feels great," Botelho said. "It's been a while since we beat 'Iolani. They're such a class act. Both sides played hard. Somebody's gotta lose."
