Advertiser Staff

Tom Schroeder, chair of the University of Hawai'i's Department of Meteorology and director of the Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research, will deliver a lecture titled "The Hurricane Future: Science and Policy" this week at the UH-Manoa campus.

In this talk — set for 7 p.m. Wednesday in the campus architecture building, room 205 — Schroeder will discuss the scientific basis for global warming-hurricane connection, detail inherent uncertainties with historical hurricane records, summarize the ongoing scientific debate, and propose strategies for addressing the Hawai'i portion of the problem.

The event is part of the UH School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology's Centennial Lecture Series on the Changing Climate and Its Significance to Hawai'i.
