Hawaii Kai water main repaired; service restored

Advertiser Staff

Water service to seven homes on Wailua Street in Hawai'i Kai was restored early this morning after a water main broke during rush hour traffic about 5 p.m. yesterday.

The break was relatively small, said Su Shin, Honolulu Board of Water Supply spokeswoman. A water wagon was brought out to the area and police were on hand diverting traffic while crews made repairs.

Water service was restored to the homes by 1 a.m. today, Shin said. Crews completed repair work by 3:30 a.m., she said.

The 8-inch-pipe was installed in 1970.
