Kauai's Kuhio Highway reopens after accident

Advertiser Staff

HANALEI, Kaua'i — A pickup truck crash in Hanalei today forced the closure of a section of K?hi'o Highway for about 2 1/2 hours. No one was seriously injured in the accident.

A Moloa'a man heading east lost control of the truck near the Hanalei Post Office at about 2:53 p.m., crossed the centerline, veered off the shoulder, struck a hedge, chain link fence and a utility pole.

The truck then collided into a westbound sedan.

The roadway was reopened at 5:30 p.m.
