Outstanding piano students perform at Atherton Nov. 3

Ten of local piano instructor Ellen Masaki's most outstanding students will perform a recital in Hawaii Public Radio's Atherton Performing Arts Studio as a benefit for the radio station on Nov. 3.

The students participating in the recital are Laura Bleakley, 16; Maile Cha, 16; Annie Kwok, 12; Irwin Jiang, 15; Alda Lam, 14; Andrew Ramos, 15; Tyler Ramos, 12; Yulia Sharipova, 15; Rachel Stanton, 14; and T.J. Tario, 13. They will be performing solo works of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Rachmaninoff and Prokofiev.

The students will also be part of a Maui taping of National Public Radio's "From the Top," which will feature them performing five at at time simultaneously on five grand pianos in the Maui Arts and Cultural Center's Castle Theater with Masaki conducting.

Tickets for the 4 p.m. performance at the Atherton studio are $20 general admission, $17.50 for Hawaii Public Radio members and $10 for students.
