Big Island hotel employee accused of attacking guest

Big Island police today charged a hotel employee with sexually assaulting a hotel guest.

Corpus Taracena, 37, of Kailua, Kona, was charged at 8:15 a.m. with kidnapping, first-degree sex assault and attempted first-degree sex assault.

Taracena is being held in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Kona police credited the security staff at the unnamed hotel with distracting Taracena during the alleged attack and allowing the victim to escape.

Police did not release any other information on the alleged attack.
