28 arrested in week span on Big Island for DUI

Big Island police arrested 28 motorists for drunk driving last week, five of whom were involved in accidents. The arrests raise the DUI totals on the Big Island to 1,063 DUI this year compared with 1,006 during the same period last year, an increase of 6 percent.Police also said there have been 1,698 major accidents so far this year compared with 2,014 during the same period last year, a decrease of 16 percent.
