Apparel firm True Religion coming to Ala Moana Center

Advertiser Staff

Los Angeles-based premium denim company True Religion Apparel Inc. has signed a lease to open a store at Ala Moana Center next summer.

The 1,270-square-foot store will be the first in Hawai'i for the maker of True Religion Brand Jeans, and is part of a strategy to grow the publicly owned company by opening retail stores.

The designer and manufacturer of denim and other apparel was established in December 2002, and sells its merchandise primarily through department stores and boutiques in 50 countries.

Last year, the company opened its first True Religion retail store, and has added about a dozen stores this year. The company has announced leases, including the one at Ala Moana, that would bring its store count to 23.

"As one of the world's largest outdoor shopping centers, and attracting over 42 million locals and visitors annually, we believe the Ala Moana Center is a premier retail location for us to introduce our branded stores to the Hawai'i market and to gain more exposure for the True Religion brand," Jeffrey Lubell, company chairman and CEO, said in a statement.
