Advertiser Staff

Twenty-four years later, police through Honolulu CrimeStoppers are hoping to solve the cold-case murder of Esther Stone with the public's assistance.

Stone, 26, of Waialua, was shot and killed as she finished filling her car with gas outside the 7-Eleven store on Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City.

Police believe the shot was fired from the area of what was then Pearl City Tavern across Lehua Street.

The shooting occurred on Oct. 6, 1983, at 1:40 a.m.

The bullet went through Stone's body and was never recovered, according to police.
