UH celebrating homecoming with 2 downtown events

Advertiser Staff

University of Hawaii coaches, administrators, cheerleaders and the band will celebrate homecoming at Tamarind Park at Bishop Square in downtown from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday.

On Thursday, a block party will be held at Murphy's Bar & Grill on 2 Merchant St.

The UH Alumni Association party will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is open to the entire community.

There will be a special performance by Henry Kapono, along with live entertainment by Imua and The Sam Kapu Trio, and guest appearances by UH coaches, including head coach June Jones.

Longtime UH supporters Don and Marion Murphy will donate all food and beverage proceeds to UHAA. The area between Nu'uanu Avenue and Bethel Street will be closed to traffic during the party.
