At Damien Memorial School, counselor Carlo Carrasco and teacher Daniel Larraway plan to take 31 students on an American History journey. The group will visit such cities as Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., where they will make spots at sites like Independence Hall and the Capitol.

To fund the traveling classroom, Carrasco is holding two fundraisers this week.

If you eat at the Kamehameha Shopping Center McDonald's Thursday between 4 and 7 p.m., a portion of the sales will benefit the trip.

Sunday Carrasco and his students will hold a steak-or-opakapaka plate dinner and Christmas photo studio at the school.

Plates will be served from 3 to 7 p.m., donation is $10. Choose from steak with mushrooms and onions or opakapaka with orange ginger sauce and fresh fruit salsa.

The Christmas photo studio shoot will run from 1 to 7 p.m. and will cost $25 per session. Buyers will receive one 8x10 and 20 4x6 prints. Appointments can be scheduled through Arlene Ching at 428-4358.
