Tennis: Roddick bounced in first round in Lyon

LYON, France — Top-seeded Andy Roddick was upset by Fabrice Santoro in the first round of the Lyon Grand Prix today.

Santoro hit three aces in the last game to complete a 7-6 (5), 2-6, 6-4 victory over the American.

The 34-year-old Santoro's next match will be against fellow Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean, who beat Rodolphe Cadart of France 6-3, 6-2 today.

No. 4 seed Richard Gasquet also advanced with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 over Christophe Rochus, and Belgium's Olivier Rochus held off Michael Llodra 7-6 (5), 6-2.

In second-round action, Frenchman Marc Gicquel defeated Germany's Benjamin Becker 6-2, 6-3. He will play Diego Hartfield, who upset sixth-seeded Juan Monaco 6-4, 6-3.
