Dory Pale, a resident of Kulana Nani Apartments, will receive the Affordable Housing Management Association of Northern California, Nevada and Hawai'i award for "outstanding contribution by a resident" tomorrow at the complex located at 46-229 Kahuhipa St. in Kane'ohe.

"Dory exemplifies what every individual should strive to become," Mary Murtagh, president and CEO of Excellence in Affordable Housing, said in a news release today announcing the regional award.

"Her deep appreciation of the human condition is a model for all of us," Murtagh added. "(Pale's) commitment to her fellow residents and the homeless shows itself in her passion to empower those who need assistance with their housing needs."

David Treusch, property manager for Kulana Nani Apartments, said Pale has worked on resident issues related to affordable housing such as self-sufficiency programs, community advocacy, and fundraising for playgrounds and other projects.
