Kapa'a's Dominador Gorospe went to sleep Sunday with a perfect Pigskin Picks ballot in hand and a sixth sense in his head.

"He left the phone by his bed because he knew he was going to win. I thought he was crazy," said Pamela, his wife of 41 years. "He kept telling me, 'I'm going to get it.' "

Gorospe said he read in the paper that "you usually get a call at 5:30 in the morning. So I waited till 5:30." When no one called, he wondered, "No tell me I didn't get 'em."

But 15 minutes later, KSSK called to announce that Gorospe had won the weekly Pigskin Picks first prize of a trip for two to Las Vegas and $500.

"I'm still jumpy," the 64-year-old retiree Monday said. "I'm ready to go already."

Gorospe's ballot was selected from among many perfect ballots.

"I usually lose on college," he said. "I took it for granted that plenty would take California, so I just took UCLA." He also picked Miami over his favorite team, Florida State, as well as Alabama over Tennessee.

Gorospe, who has had many one-wrong ballots that never won, is diligent, gathering information from the papers.

"I really do check the point spreads," he said.

Said Pamela: "I don't get attention. He studies the paper day and night."
