Surf expected to increase by early next week

Advertiser Staff

Surf along north-facing shores will be decreasing to 3 to 7 feet today, and surf along east-facing shores will be 2 to 4 feet with occasional 6-footers along exposed northeast-facing beaches, the National Weather Service said.

A series of northwest swells is passing through, and the largest of the swells is expected to pass through Sunday and Monday as an area of intense low pressure is expected to materialize toward the weekend far northeast of the state. It may warrant a high-surf advisory for northeast shores as early as Saturday.

Elsewhere today, west-facing shores will see surf 2 to 4 feet and south-facing shores will see surf 1 to 3 feet.
