Royal Hawaiian mall eases parking-validation rules

Advertiser Staff

Waikiki's largest retail mall, Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, is trying to make parking more inviting by eliminating a $25 purchase requirement to qualify for validated parking rates.

The mall owned by Kamehameha Schools said that validated parking rates are now available with any purchase, regardless of value, from one of the center's 110 tenants that include Starbucks and ABC Stores.

Previously, parking validation required a minimum purchase of $25 in single or combined same-day receipts at the mall.

Validated parking rates, however, remain unchanged. The rate is $2 for two hours or $4 for four hours. After four hours, parking costs $2 for every additional 20 minutes or fraction thereof.

After 10 p.m., guests of Senor Frog's Restaurant and Bar will be charged a $5 flat rate.

Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center has one of Waikiki's largest parking garages, with 614 stalls on 10 levels. The center is in the midst of a $115 million renovation slated for completion by the end of the year.
