Help sought in solving 1983 killing of Waialua woman

Honolulu Police are asking for the public's help in solving the killing of a Waialua woman outside a convenience store 24 years ago.

Esther Stone was shot and killed as she finished filling her car with gas outside the 7-Eleven store on Kamehameha Highway in Pearl City.

Police believe the shot was fired from the area of what was then Pearl City Tavern across Lehua Street.

The shooting occurred 1:40 a.m. on Oct. 6, 1983.

The bullet went through Stone's body and was never recovered, police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call Honolulu CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.
