The newest Zagat Survey of restaurants lists Alan Wong's as the top Honolulu restaurant for food, followed by La Mer at the Halekulani and Hoku's at the Kahala Hotel & Resort.

The ranking is an update of last year's survey and has been adjusted for major changes, including chef changes, said a Zagat spokeswoman. Surveys for Honolulu are taken every other year, with updates done in years when they aren't taken, she said.

The survey also noted Honolulu was among the least generous when it came to tipping, with the average gratuity being 18 percent of the check. Denver was first at 19.5 percent.
