Fujikawa's round postponed in Nationwide Tour event

Advertiser Staff

Tadd Fujikawa's quest for the cut will have to wait another day.

The 16-year-old's second round was postponed today because of rain at the Nationwide Tour's $575,500 Miccosukee Championship in Miami.

Only players in the morning round went out. Fujikawa was scheduled to tee off in the afternoon in Miami.

Fujikawa shot a 1-under-par 70 Thursday in the first round and was tied for 28th going into today's round.

This is the Moanalua High School junior's sixth start as a professional. He has yet to make a 36-hole cut in which the full field is cut to about half for weekend competition.

Fujikawa will likely tee off around 2 a.m. Saturday Hawai'i time. If he makes the cut, he'll have to play another 18.

Thursday, Fujikawa played steady, carding 15 pars, two birdies and a bogey.

Fujikawa hit 86 percent of the fairways off the tee and needed just 24 putts.

Fujikawa will get a seventh start as a pro next week. Fujikawa has accepted a sponsor exemption into the Children's Miracle Network Classic. The final event of the PGA Tour's Fall Series is Nov. 1 to 4 at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
