Free pow wow at Hawaii Convention Center tonight

Advertiser Staff

The National Indian Education Association is hosting a pow wow at the Hawaii Convention Center from 6 p.m. to midnight tonight.

The one-night-only pow wow is part of the 38th Annual NIEA Convention that runs through Sunday at the convention center.

More than 3,000 indigenous people are expected to participate in this convention, which is held each year at different locations throughout the United States.

The pow wow is free and open to the public. It features Native American dancing, drumming, singing, flute performances, arts and crafts, and food.

Some of the best pow wow dancers and singers in the nation will be performing, including Head Man Dancer, Joseph Hacker (Rosebud Lakota); Head Woman Dancer, Tawny Hale (Navajo), and Head Veteran Dancer, Forrest Two Crow (Arikara/Santee Sioux).
