MENTAL HEALTH KOKUA

Joanne Lundstrom, longtime CEO of Mental Health Kokua, will retire at the end of the year. The agency specializes in the recovery of mentally ill adults.

In 2006, Lundstrom was selected Outstanding Agency Executive by the Mental Health Association and is a 2007 finalist for the Cades Foundation/Pacific Business News Nonprofit Leadership Award. She also won a Weinberg Fellow Achievement in Management Award and was twice named Social Worker of the Year in Mental Health.

JOHN MULLEN & CO

MILIA LEONG has been named workers' compensation claim manager at John Mullen & Co., a third party administrator of insured and self-insured claims. Leong has been with the company for seven years and in the industry for 12 years. She is responsible for management of the workers' compensation and longshore claims department as well as nurse case management service.

STACIA PELEHOLANI has been promoted to assistant claims manager, casualty/property. Peleholani has been in the claims industry for 30 years and with the company since 1984. She will be responsible for casualty, property, marine, general liability and temporary disability claims.

WestERN Pacific Regional FISHERY Management Council

  • The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council has re-elected Sean Martin as its chair. Martin, co-owner of Pacific Ocean Producers, is the only fisherman on the Council.

    Manuel Duenas, president of Guam Fishermen's Cooperative, was re-elected vice chair from Guam.

    Newly elected vice chairs include: businessman Stephen Haleck of American Samoa; resort/hotel consultant and recreational fisherman Fred Duerr of Hawai'i; and cultural practitioner Benigno Sablan of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

    BRIDGE CAPITAL

    Bridge Capital has named Edward "EJ" Calvo managing director of Guam operations for the company and its affiliates, including Guam Greyhound Park, which is owned by Bridge Capital's chief executive officer, John Baldwin. Calvo was previously sales and marketing manager at Calvo's Insurance Underwriters, Inc. Calvo is responsible for managing several Guam properties, including Guam Greyhound Park and the Perlas Court Condominiums.

    HAWAI'I PACIFIC UNIVERSITY

    Dr. Steven Combs has been named dean of the College of Communication at Hawai'i Pacific University.
